* Contest not actually sponsored by Weight Watchers.
Ok, so maybe Weight Watchers isn’t really a sponsor- but it should have been. Since today’s contest I haven’t seen a single person who wanted to eat another thing, ever.
The rules: eat as many Del Taco tacos as possibleĀ in 15 minutes.
The prize: Pride
The results: a four way tie between John, John, Rick, and Drew at 10 tacos each.
The tiebreaker: John, John and Rick promised to concede if Drew ate another taco in one minute. AND HE DID IT!
So congratulations to Drew for taking down 11 tacos in 16 minutes – he is Sitewire’s 2009 Taco Eating Champion.

I think Chris taking them 2 at a time and Drew dunking them in water were the best moments of this entire competition. And FYI – that calorie count in 1 taco is 160, so with the proper adjustments in the rest your day’s food, a couple of tacos may not be so bad. Not really sure 11 is the doctor recommended dose, but Drew’s a growing boy. Here’s to next year!
Someday, I will stand in front of an awe-struck audience, and I will proudly announce of the Sitewire Taco Eating Contest: I was there. I witnessed it firsthand.
I saw the horror… the triumph… and the heartburn. Every aching second of it.
And I will raise a fist in solidarity for my brothers and sisters who fought that great taco-munching fight and I will shout: Eat on, Sitewire… eat on!
For now though, I’m just going to try and not throw up.
Drew, you’re the man.
Last time I did this I helped organize it.

I swore to god that the pain I saw these people endure was something I would never choose to go through..
Somehow, someway by mighty zeus I was duped into participating and now I am having hot sweats, flashes, gas, urges to barf and just a general since of unhealthyness and self dissapointment.
Thank you sitewire!
Maybe next year we can have Del Taco or Taco Bell sponsor. Who won the best competitor’s name? and who came up with those?
