After 10.5 years of nurturing and loving Sitewire from birth to childhood, the decision to hire a new president was an easy one to make. Bret and I realized that to take the company to the next level we needed to have a strong President to help manage the day to day operations of Sitewire while Bret and I focused our time on more strategic initiatives.
We had the perfect guy in mind, Greg Chapman. After putting him on our “dream team list” years ago we finally made the dream a reality. What a relief. We knew he was brilliant, capable and a perfect fit, in all ways, to lead our company into the future.
We had the utmost confidence in Greg’s ability to bring our vision to life, execute our plans, wow our clients and motivate our workforce. What we didn’t plan on was the pre and post hiring anxiety and schizophrenia we would experience about turning our child over to a new parent.
All of the crazy thoughts and feelings I’ve had since the day he started: How can he care as much as I do? How do I not step on his toes? My muscle memory wants me to jump in and take the reins, my heart is pulling me back at every turn while my mind is telling me I’m a fool for not celebrating every minute that Greg is in the driver’s seat.
So, the challenge I have is to navigate the most exciting time in Sitewire’s history with confidence and grace as I learn to let go. The future is extremely bright and I know our decision to hand over our child to Greg was right!
