You may have noticed a few changes in our Twitter stream lately, but if you haven’t, let me take this opportunity to announce our new sharing initiative.
Here at Sitewire we have a group of very smart people, and every day dozens of articles, posts and pieces of information are shared internally. We send each other emails and links, helping to keep each other up to speed. However, we’ve realized our real responsibility is to keep our clients up to speed. In order to do that, we needed a way to publicize this internal exchange of information so our clients could easily peek in at the research we’re doing behind the curtain.
The solution we ultimately came to was by chance. At agencyside’s Bolo conference, Guy Kawasaki mentioned a program that’s currently in beta called Objective Marketer. It is a powerful tool for managing and measuring campaigns on Twitter with some cool capabilities built in for link sharing. After some testing and adjusting we created what we think is a pretty comprehensive sharing channel.

The basic premise of our program is: Each Sitewire employee can set up a public tag in their RSS reader, the resulting feed from that individuals tag is aggregated into a larger category feed. Each of these category feeds is automatically published to Twitter through Objective Marketer. The tweet includes the headline and a link to the page, where we can add our logo and an additional link back to our site or blog.
We feel like this program is beneficial for all parties involved:
- It sends the link (and traffic) to the original author of the content giving them the impressions they deserve
- It’s quick and easy for our employees
- Our clients have the benefit of a stream of information hand-picked by our experts, with a reminder of where they found it
This program is still in its infancy, so bear with us as we work out any bugs, testing and improving as we go. In the meantime we welcome comments, suggestions or questions.
